The cheapest dehumidifier to run is not simply the one with the lowest wattage. A small machine on low power that runs all day can cost more than a bigger one that dries the room and switches off. A fairer yardstick is the rated power divided by the litres a day the maker quotes, which gives a rough figure for watts per litre of extraction. This guide ranks six compressor dehumidifiers that way, using only the wattage and extraction stated in each listing, and lists the energy features that cut running time further, such as humidity targets and auto modes. Treat the ratio as a guide rather than a measured result. Real use depends on room temperature, humidity and how long the machine runs. Desiccant models draw far more per litre and are left out here.
