The DD230P is De'Longhi's heavy duty Tasciugo AriaDry, rated at 30 litres a day and fitted with a lifting pump. It is aimed at the dampest spaces in a home, cellars and basements in particular, where there is no floor drain and water has to be pushed upwards to escape. The pump, which De'Longhi says can send condensate over obstacles up to 5 metres high, is what sets it apart from every other model reviewed here.

In its favour

  • The lift pump discharges water over obstacles up to 5 m high, useful in a cellar.
  • Up to 30 litres a day, far more than the desiccant units for a very damp space.
  • An anti-freeze function is listed, along with wheels for moving it.

Good to know

  • No minimum working temperature is given, unlike the desiccant models.
  • At 19 kg it is heavy to carry down cellar steps.

Our take

The lift pump explained

Most dehumidifiers with continuous drainage rely on gravity, so the hose has to run downhill to a drain. The DD230P instead pumps water through its hose, which means it can sit in a basement and discharge into a sink or window outlet at ground level. For a cellar that would otherwise need a bucket carried up the steps every day, that changes how practical a dehumidifier is.

The transparent tank, listed at 7 litres, shows the water level when you are not using the pump.

Capacity, power and refrigerant

Extraction is up to 30 litres in 24 hours, the joint highest figure among the units here alongside the Pro Breeze 30L. The rated power is 540 W, with the specification notes quoting a maximum of 575 W. De'Longhi uses R290, a natural refrigerant gas, which it describes as ecological and efficient.

Further features noted in the specification include an anti freeze function, a humidistat, a timer and two fan speeds, with a 30 °C upper temperature rating.

Size, weight and placement

This is a large machine at 19 kg, and the listed dimensions of 68 by 42 by 36 cm suggest a broad footprint. Wheels and handles help on a flat floor, but carrying it down cellar steps is a two person job. A washable dust filter is designed to remove pollutants and allergens, and should be rinsed regularly in a dusty basement.

No minimum operating temperature is given, so in a very cold space it may not keep pace with a desiccant unit.

Against the Pro Breeze and EcoAir DD1 Classic

The Pro Breeze 30L matches the extraction figure and adds app control at a much lower weight, but relies on gravity drainage. The EcoAir DD1 Classic MK6 is a 6 kg desiccant that works from 1 °C but extracts 7.5 litres a day. The DD230P is the one for big volumes of water and awkward drain routes.

Verdict

Buy the DD230P for a damp basement, cellar or large garage where water needs to be pumped up and away, and where capacity matters more than portability. If you need app control and easy carrying, the Pro Breeze 30L is the alternative, and for a cold outbuilding with smaller moisture loads, the EcoAir DD1 Classic MK6 is more suitable.
