EcoAir's DD2 Simple is a desiccant dehumidifier for cold spaces that also need a strong laundry function. When the laundry button is pressed, the listing says it runs at full power continuously until you change the setting. That makes it a candidate for a garage, utility room or boat where washing hangs to dry, and where a compressor unit would slow down in the cold.

Our take
Desiccant performance in the cold
EcoAir quotes up to 9 litres a day at temperatures as low as 1 °C, using desiccant technology with no compressor and no refrigerant gas. Recommended uses run from garages and cellars to offices and boats, with a floor area up to 70 square metres and homes of 2 to 5 bedrooms named.
The power range is given as 260 W on low and 570 W on high, which reflects how desiccant units generate heat as part of the drying process. In a cold garage, that warmth helps clothes dry, which is one reason desiccant models are popular for outbuildings.
Noise and controls
Noise is listed at 37 dBA on low and 46 dBA on high, so laundry mode at full power is noticeably louder. The electronic control panel includes a humidity sensor that lets you set a target, and an economy mode. The listing does not mention a timer, so remember to switch laundry mode off yourself.
Tank, filter and safety
The tank holds 3 litres, with optional continuous drainage through a 1 metre hose that comes in the box. An antibacterial filter kills airborne bacteria on contact, and an active charcoal filter can be bought separately. Tilt over protection and automatic shut down when the tank is full are listed, and the weight is 6.7 kg. EcoAir gives a three year warranty.
Against other EcoAir and Bosch models
The EcoAir DD3 Slimline adds a timer, automatic louvre and 10 litres a day. The Bosch Dry 1000 is quieter at 34 dB(A) with a Laundry mode, but as a compressor model it suits a heated room of 17 square metres. The DD2 Simple trades a timer for a powerful continuous laundry setting.
Verdict
Pick the DD2 Simple for drying washing in a cold garage, utility room or boat, where desiccant extraction and a hose are useful. If you want a timer and automatic restart, the EcoAir DD3 Slimline is the better buy, and for a warm bedroom, the quieter Bosch Dry 1000 is more suitable.
