The DDSX220WFA is the connected version of De'Longhi's Tasciugo AriaDry Multi, and it is built for people who want a large capacity dehumidifier they can talk to. Alexa voice control, Wi-Fi, a RealFeel comfort mode and a four stage filter pack are all listed. Combined with a 5 litre tank and a quoted floor area of 90 square metres, it targets bigger homes where damp and air quality are both concerns.

Our take

Filtration in four stages

De'Longhi lists four filters working together. A HEPA filter graded E12 captures particles down to 0.1 μm, with PM10 and PM2.5 named. Activated carbon deals with odours, a Bio Silver layer is described as reducing bacteria, and a dust filter catches the largest particles before they reach the rest.

E12 is a step below the H13 grade on the Meaco Arete Two, so if fine particle capture is your main reason for buying, that difference is worth weighing.

Capacity, tank and power draw

Extraction is quoted at up to 21 litres in 24 hours, and the 5 litre tank is one of the bigger buckets in this category. A larger tank simply means fewer trips to the sink on wet days. The listing gives 490 W, an upper working temperature of 30 °C and a weight of 13.5 kg.

The 490 W figure is higher than the 350 W quoted for the Meaco and the 430 W of the non Wi-Fi DDSX220, which is something to consider if the unit will run for many hours a day through winter.

RealFeel and smart control

RealFeel is De'Longhi's automatic mode that keeps the room in what it calls your comfort zone, based on both temperature and humidity rather than humidity alone. A timer is also listed. The Alexa link works with any Alexa enabled device, so you can switch modes from another room. The listing does not mention Google Assistant or Apple Home, and no noise figure is published.

Who it does not suit

Bedroom users who need a confirmed quiet rating get no number to go on here. Households without Alexa lose much of the smart appeal, and might prefer the Ariston Deos 21S NET with its own scheduling app or the plain DDSX220 sibling.

Verdict

Buy the DDSX220WFA if you have a large home, use Alexa already and want the convenience of a 5 litre tank with layered filtration. If quiet running and lower power draw matter more, the Meaco Arete Two is the better fit, and if you do not need connectivity at all, the De'Longhi Tasciugo AriaDry Multi DDSX220 covers similar ground.
