The EcoAir DD128 is a compact desiccant dehumidifier for a single cold room, a boat or a garage. At 6.1 kg it is one of the lightest machines covered here, and its 3D louvre lets you either spread the airflow widely or concentrate it on one spot. That ability to aim dry air at a cold window or a damp corner is what distinguishes it from simpler models.

- On high it draws up to 623 W and reaches 49 dBA, per the listing.
Our take
Rated output and what it means
EcoAir quotes 8 litres a day at 20 °C and 60 percent relative humidity, and an ideal floor area of up to 66 square metres. As a desiccant machine, it keeps extracting in cold conditions where compressor units slow down, making it a fit for spaces that are not heated all the time.
Power consumption is listed at 331 to 623 W depending on setting, and noise at 39 dBA on low and 49 dBA on high. On the higher setting it is both louder and hungrier, so the low setting is the one to use overnight.
Safety and automatic features
The safety list is thorough for a small unit: tilt over stop protection, water full shut down, over drying protection and automatic restart after a power cut. Over drying protection stops the machine pulling the air drier than needed, which saves energy over a long winter. An off timer offers 2, 4 or 8 hours.
Tank, drainage and filter
The 2.2 litre tank is described as anti drip, with a lid and handle to limit spills on the way to the sink. EcoAir puts a continuous drainage hose in the box, so the unit can be left to run without visits. The IonPure filter works with an ioniser, which EcoAir says purifies the air to ease asthma and allergy symptoms.
A small tank fills quickly in a very damp room, so the hose is worth using wherever there is a drain point nearby.
Where it sits in the EcoAir range
The EcoAir DD3 Slimline offers 10 litres a day, a humidistat and a 3 litre tank in a slightly heavier body. The EcoAir DD1 Classic MK6 is quieter at 34 dB(A) with 7.5 litres a day. The DD128 sits between them, distinguished by its louvre.
Verdict
The DD128 is a good choice for a single cold room, caravan or boat where you want to direct airflow at a problem area and value light weight. For a whole damp house, a larger unit such as the EcoAir DD3 Slimline is more suitable, and anyone prioritising low noise should consider the EcoAir DD1 Classic MK6.
