The DD1 Simple MK3 is EcoAir's no fuss desiccant dehumidifier, controlled with a rotary dial rather than buttons and a display. It is aimed at people who want something straightforward for a garage, shed, boat or cold spare room and would rather not navigate menus. The simplicity of the dial, combined with an ambient working range of 1 to 40 °C, is its main selling point.

In its favour
- The listing gives an ambient working range of 1 to 40 °C.
- It stops at your set humidity and starts again when humidity rises.
- A continuous drainage hose is included, and the tank shuts it down when full.
Good to know
- Auto restart after a power cut is not mentioned in the listing.
- The filter needs cleaning every 2 weeks, which is easy to forget in a shed.
Our take
How it is controlled
The rotary dial sets your desired humidity. Once the room reaches it, the unit stops automatically, and when humidity rises above the setting, it starts again. There are laundry functions with turbo and quiet modes, and a super quiet setting rated at 34 dBA. An adjustable louvre concentrates airflow where it is needed.
The listing does not mention auto restart after a power cut, so in an outbuilding with an unreliable supply, check it after any outage.
Capacity and where it fits
Extraction is up to 7.5 litres a day, with an ideal floor area of up to 60 square metres. The rating is 300 W, two speeds are listed, and the weight is 6 kg, making it easy to carry with the built-in handle. It shares a compact 17.5 by 29 by 48.5 cm body with the DD1 Classic.
Tank, hose and filter care
The water bucket sits on the side of the unit, making it easier to remove, and has its own carry handle. The specification describes it as a 2 litre tank with a cover and full tank shut down. A continuous drainage hose is included, which suits a garage with a floor drain.
EcoAir is explicit about filter care: the dust filter should be cleaned every two weeks, and a clogged filter can cause the unit to fail because restricted airflow overheats internal parts. Set a reminder if the unit lives somewhere you rarely visit.
Simple versus Classic
The EcoAir DD1 Classic MK6 adds an electronic panel, ECO E7S energy switching, overdry protection, an ioniser, a timer and auto restart, for the same 7.5 litre rating. The EcoAir DD2 Simple offers 9 litres a day and a 3 litre tank. The MK3 is for those who prefer a dial and fewer features.
Verdict
Pick the DD1 Simple MK3 if you want a basic, light desiccant with a humidistat and hose for a cold space, and you will keep up with filter cleaning. If auto restart and a timer matter, the EcoAir DD1 Classic MK6 is worth the step up, and for more extraction, consider the EcoAir DD2 Simple.
